Okauchee Lake System
Early Spring Afternoon on Okauchee Lake
The Okauchee Lake System consists of Okauchee
Lake, Little
Okauchee Lake, and Upper Oconomowoc Lake, from North to South.
Okauchee Lake is 1187 acres in size with a maximum depth of 94 feet. Fish
species in the lake include Muskies, Northern Pike, Walleye, LM and SM Bass, and
Panfish.
Upper Oconomowoc Lake is 43 acres in size and has a depth of 11 feet. It also
has Northern Pike, LM Bass, and Panfish.
Tierney Lake, which is accessed through Okauchee Lake is 15 acres in size and
has a depth of 5 feet. It has only LM Bass.
Some things to remember on the lakes:
These are some important local ordinances:
The daytime speed limit on Okauchee, Little Okauchee, and Upper Oconomowoc Lakes
is 40 MPH.
The speed limit from sunset until 8:00 A.M. the following morning is 10 MPH.
Motorboats or PWC's operating in circles less then 200 feet
in diameter must be SNW.
Tierney Lake is Slow No Wake.
No automobiles are allowed on the ice between the
hours of 9:30 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. Speed is limited to 10 MPH.
No motorized vehicles (ATV's, Snowmobiles) are
allowed on the ice between the hours of 1:30 A.M. and 6:00 A.M.
Boats can be launched free from two places.
1) The DNR Boat Launch. It is located at the end of Road T, off of Wisconsin Av. Directions: From STH 16 exit at CTH P (North) Brown St.
Follow Brown St. north, (turn right by the Brown Street British Petroleum gas station). Head east (on
Wisconsin Av., past the dam, to Road T. There is no fee to launch.
When the
parking lot is filled however, no more boats are allowed to launch. There is no
launching of Personal watercraft.
2) Bauer's Lane. Boats can be launched from Bauer's Lane, but there is no
trailer parking anywhere near the launch on Bauer's Ln. From STH 16,
take CTH P- Brown St. north to North Lake Dr. (across from CTH Z), to Bauer's Ln.
