Computer InvestigatIONS
The Computer Investigative Division investigates computer
crimes and Identity Theft cases. We maintain our own up to date computer
forensics lab with trained technicians available to analyze computers and
computer equipment media for the recovery of any forensic evidence. We are one
of the few agencies in the state that maintain a state-of-the-art forensic lab
for the analysis and recovery of computer evidence. The CID is accepting cases
from other law enforcement agencies on a case by case basis, depending on
workload at the time.
The division also has an officer trained in internet crimes against children
cases. We are a satellite office of the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children)
task force sponsored by a federal grant from the US Department of Justice. Our
main responsibility is to protect children from the predatory activities of
criminals who use the internet to identify, contact, and perpetrate crimes
against children. In this continuing endeavor, we
-
Actively work on the internet to identify, arrest, and
prosecute offenders; and
-
Educate the public, schoolchildren, and parents as to
the perils lurking in the internet.
