The Town of Oconomowoc is located in the far northwestern corner of Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The town covers approximately 32 square miles with a population of around 7882 year round residents. The town is a mix of agricultural and residential areas. There is also light industry and retail businesses in the town as well.

The town also  includes the unincorporated communities of Mapleton, Monterey, and Okauchee. A number of lakes are also in the town, including the Okauchee Lake System (Okauchee, Little Okauchee, Upper Oconomowoc), Lac La Belle, Ashippun Lake, and other smaller lakes including Florence, Tamarack, and Mapleton, and some smaller unnamed ones. The two major rivers in the town are the Oconomowoc and Ashippun Rivers. We are bordered on the North by the Town of Ashippun and Lebanon/Dodge County and Town of Erin/Washington County, the West by the Town of Ixonia and Concord/Jefferson County, the South by the Town of Summit, City of Oconomowoc, and Village of Oconomowoc Lake, and the East by the Town of Merton, and City of Delafield. We also surround the Village of Lac La Belle.

The Town of Oconomowoc Police Department has 12 full time sworn officers, which includes a Chief, Lieutenant,  Sergeant, Investigator, and 8 Patrol Officers. In addition to full time patrol duties we also operate a Boat Patrol during the summer consisting of two patrol boats and a PWC on the larger lakes in the town. The lakes are used heavily for recreational uses year round. During the summer, Okauchee Lake is the busiest in Waukesha County, and one of the busiest lakes in the state in terms of boating traffic and number of users.
